Advanced Care for People with Melanoma

The region’s most experienced cancer center is here for you

Melanoma CancerIf you have skin cancer, you want the care that will give you the best chance of recovery. Lehigh Valley Hospital offers procedures and treatments for melanoma that you won’t find at other cancer centers. And U.S. News ranks Lehigh Valley Hospital among America’s Best Hospitals for cancer.

For more information, call 877-722-HOPE (4673) or 610-402-CARE (2273) .

In addition to our expertise in traditional treatment options, we provide these therapies found in very few treatment centers:

  • Interleukin-2 therapy for advanced melanoma. By stimulating the immune system, this immunotherapy has helped shrink cancers in 10 to 20% of patients with Stage III and Stage IV melanoma (the most serious). Because this treatment has serious side effects, it is only available at a limited number of cancer centers where doctors have extensive experience with the treatment.

  • Isolated limb infusion for advanced melanoma of the arm or leg. This new, experimental chemotherapy involves only the arm or leg with the melanoma and does not affect the rest of your body. So areas other than your or arm or leg won’t be exposed to high doses of chemotherapy. This new treatment is a simplified version of an older treatment, isolated limb perfusion, yet it appears to work as well as the more complicated treatment.

Whether you have just been diagnosed with melanoma, or you have been treated before, the sooner you begin treatment, the better.
